Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is a really ridiculously good-looking male model, famous for pioneering devastating looks such as "Blue Steel". But in the world of fashion, good looks only last for so long, before the next pretty face takes over. Derek is having trouble accepting that his career is winding down, while the star of his competition, Hansel (Owen Wilson), is on the rise. Vulnerable - and impressionable - Derek is ripe to be exploited by an evil international fashion syndicate. Flamboyant designer Mugatu (Will Ferrell) brainwashes Derek, training him for his final big assignment: to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia, whose policies are threatening the fashion industry's reliance on sweatshop labour. Derek finds help in the most unlikely places: straight-laced journalist Matilda Jeffries (Christine Taylor), former hand model J.P. Prewitt (David Duchovny) and even his rival, Hansel.
