Heath Ledger and Bryan Brown star in this comical crime drama, the winner of five AFI® Awards including Best Film, which centres around a young man who finds himself in hot water when his first job working for a notorious gangster ends badly.Hanging around Sydney's Kings Cross, young Jimmy (Heath Ledger) sees an opportunity to break into the criminal scene when Pando (Bryan Brown), a criminal with a fearsome reputation, offers him a small but important errand to run. Jimmy is sent to Bondi to deliver a substantial amount of cash to a woman, but the money goes missing when he goes swimming while waiting for the woman to return. Jimmy organises to rob a bank to repay the money, but word has already gotten back to Pando, who is after Jimmy and intends to kill him. Jimmy and his new love interest, Alex (Rose Byrne) are forced to run for it when Pando's gang tracks him down, but although he escapes with his life, the bank robbery the next day is not without its mishaps either. Even repaying his debt is fraught with danger, but Jimmy is nothing if not determined to do the right thing.
