Jeremy Reed's (Sean Patrick Flanery) mother dies giving birth to him, and his father rejects him, because he is albino. He spends the rest of his childhood living in his grandparents' basement. Later, he is discovered by sheriff Doug Barnum (Lance Henriksen). His odd appearance, white and completely hairless, causes the townspeople to fear him. But his science teacher (Jeff Goldblum) and the school psychologist (Mary Steenburgen) discover that the boy is electrically supercharged, and has telekinetic, telepathic and healing powers.
