Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks star in this crime drama about a man who believes his wife was wrongfully convicted of the murder of her boss, and consults a master escapee for advice about how to successfully break her out of jail and flee the country.The lives of ordinary couple John (Russell Crowe) and Lara Brennan (Elizabeth Banks) are turned upside down when police arrive at their suburban home to arrest Lara for the murder of her employer. Lara is a suspect because of an argument that she had with her boss just before he was killed. She is convicted on evidence linking her to the murder weapon, and an appeal fails. Her distraught husband, desperate to prevent his despondent wife from killing herself in prison, contacts a former prison inmate and escapee, Damon Pennington (Liam Neeson) for advice on how to break out successfully. By creating fake evidence of Lara suffering from a disease, she is sent to hospital, with John staging her escape during the transfer, and they start a race against time and the police on their tail in a desperate attempt to make it safely to the South American country that is their safe destination.
