The voices of James Van Der Beek and Anna Paquin star in this animated adventure from acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki about a young man and a girl who cross each other's paths and discover they are on the same quest to find a mystical floating castle.In a futuristic world, technology had allowed many cities to fly, but a major disaster destroyed the flight ability of all but one city, Laputa, which is concealed by the clouds of an electrical storm. It has now become the most sought after place in civilisation, and it appears that a girl named Sheeta (Anna Paquin) may hold the key to its discovery. A military colonel, Muska (Mark Hamill) tries to abduct Sheeta, but she escapes with a pendant which protects her from hurtling to the ground. Sheeta is found by Pazu (James Van Der Beek), a young miner who also seeks to find Laputa in honour of his dead father, who searched for it for years. Pazu and Sheeta learn that the properties of the crystal in her pendant are used to keep Laputa in the air, as they continue in their quest to discover its location and what magical secrets it holds.
