Winona Ryder and Christian Slater star in this black comedy about a quirky young girl who, after realising that being a part of the school's most popular clique is not what she envisioned, teams up with an eccentric rebel who helps her teach her former friends a lesson.Even though she has risen to the heights of school popularity by being included in the clique of "Heathers", so known because of its membership of girls named Heather, Veronica Sawyer (Winona Ryder) is intelligent enough to see that all three Heathers - Heather Chandler (Kim Walker), Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty) and Heather McNamara (Lisanne Falk) only rule the roost due to their bullying and demeaning of others, including herself. While trying to extricate herself from the clique, Veronica meets Jason Dean (Christian Slater), also known as J.D, a new boy at the high school whose air of anti-conformity is palpable. Veronica and J.D start a relationship, which boosts her confidence enough to finally turn the tables on the Heathers, but Veronica is a little unprepared for the lengths J.D will happily go to help her effect her revenge.
