Andie MacDowell and Gerard Depardieu star in this endearing Golden Globe®-winning romantic comedy helmed by Australian director Peter Weir about a marriage of convenience between two complete opposites which takes some unexpected turns. Professional green thumb Bronte (Andie MacDowell) finds the perfect New York apartment for housing her plants, but it is only available for a married couple. A mutual friend, Antoine (Ronald Guttman) introduces Bronte to Georges (Gerard Depardieu), a French musician who wants to remain in the United States, but whose visa is about to expire. When Antoine suggests that the two get married to solve both their problems, it all seems too easy, and it is until immigration agents start to examine their "marriage". As Bronte and Georges create the illusion of a loving relationship, their initial aversion to each other starts to disappear as a true attraction grows.
