Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis star in this comedy of errors that leads to the road trip from hell for a businessman who is forced to travel with a disaster-prone would-be actor in order to make it home for the birth of his child.Anxious to get home to his wife Sarah (Michelle Monaghan) who is about to have their first child, uptight businessman Peter (Robert Downey Jr) is irritated to find the driver who smashed his car door at the airport, hapless aspiring actor Ethan (Zach Galifianakis) is seated nearby on the plane, but his frustration know no bounds when another mishap caused by Ethan sees the two of them bundled off the flight and barred from flying due to terrorism concerns. After leaving his wallet and luggage on the plane, Peter has little choice but to accept a lift from Ethan to drive cross-country from Atlanta to Los Angeles. As the trip progresses, Peter puts life and limb at risk as accident-prone Ethan crashes their car, gets Peter arrested and accidentally shoots him. During their mad race across the country to get Peter home in time to see his baby being born, an unlikely friendship also comes into being.
